ANGEL CHILD ! This very young angel has a pensive presence with her sweet face, slightly smiling lips and tilted head. Her hair was deeply coiffed with a band behind the front curls and waves. She has a rich brown surface patina all over including her detailed wings. Note the multitudinous knife marks in the closeup photographs which indicate where paper mache replicas were removed many, many times from this wooden pattern. Two identifying marks were carved into the wood; the initials "PBA" and the numeral "3" appear on the back of her wings. These do not indicate the carver or paper mache maker, but the owner of the mold, and some other reference regarding the number.

JOLLY SANTA CLAUS!!! An incredible rotund carving of Santa seated on a Ball. Must be for one of the kids! Look at SANTA'S expression and his arms high in the air. He is bursting with energy and exuberance!! Christmas is almost here. He is in absolutely excellent condition. The ball has a couple tight wood separations, and SANTA'S hand has one. SANTA was carved from one piece of solid wood but the hands and coat cuffs were pieced. He sits upon the separately carved ball.

SANTA shows deep knife cuts where the paper mache was cut off many, many times in order to replicate him in paper. These are mostly inside his arms, around his coat bottom and around his boots. Also! There are numerous small pieces of papier mache still attached to his body. They are a serendipidous find, and further exemplify him as an artistic sculptural pattern. SANTA is WONDERFUL! He is 23 inches tall including the 3/4 inch display base upon which he is secured. The base is 14" X 15" flat X 3/4" high. AND, SANTA has a wonderful polished surface patina!

Elegant WOMAN'S HIGH HEELED SHOE. A terrific MOLD with great patina! There are multitudes of fine knife cut lines from removal of the paper mache many times over. This LARGE and sculptural icon is OVERSIZED at 16 " long x 7"h x 5"w. It is the only shoe of its kind we have seen in our 15 years of collecting.

SANTA CLAUS' HAND !! A fabulous Christmas Sculpture !! This warm Christmas greeting is obviously by none other than SANTA himself. This wonderful solid wood carving was hand sculpted as a pattern to make paper mache SANTA HANDS. This pattern was used time and again as seen by the tiny individual knife cuts (seen up each side and over the top of the finger tips) which removed the paper mache from this wood mold. Very good condition with a fantastic waxed surface patina! Front and back views illustrate the deft hand of the carver who designed this life-like traditional Christmas piece !!

BABY ANGEL Clutching a Star ! This lovely contented Baby Angel is smiling as she rests in her long gown with her prize star. She doesn't have her wings yet, but is undoubtedly a darling little Angel. There is a bit of paper mache residue left from the process along with a rich waxy brown surface patina making her an "eye catcher." She is carved from only one large piece of wood except for the top of her head. As you can see from the back photo view a piece of wood was carved separately to add the final sizing and shaping of her lovely hair. As a solid piece of wood, her body reflects a change in humidity and shows a check on her left side. A slice of wood from the top of her left foot's toes has chipped, but is no more than a bump she endured sometime in the past.

Folky LITTLE ROUND HEN !!!
This sweet little chicken wood carving was hand sculpted as a pattern to make paper hens. It is solid wood and was used sparingly in its productive lifetime. Notice the few fine knife cuts as evidence of the paper mache removed from the wood body; look especially on the top of her head. Also the tip of her beak is just a bit shorter than when carved either from knife use or from being bumped. It is in fine condition with a charming appearance. This DRAMATIC and EXTREMELY UNUSUAL MASK was designed and carved by one of the most creative of craftsmen. Notice the bird's curvilinear bill as it shapes and defines this unusual MASK! For nearly two decades we have personally collected MOLDS...and also acquired them for other collectors. We have seen very few MASK molds in all these years; this is one of the finest MASK molds!

Excellent condition. There are no missing parts, wood checks, or repairs. Note the photographs to see that there are few knife cuts showing removal of paper mache from its body! ( some lightly seen with the naked eye on the bill's left side.) This marks the delicate and experienced hand of the paper mache cutter.

Halloween WITCH'S SHOE !! This old hobgoblin's shoe is a wood carving hand sculpted as a pattern to make paper mache WITCH SHOES. The cut marks illustrate the process of cutting the paper along the seams to remove it from the wood mold many multiple times. This conjurer's footwear is extremely unusual. Note the soft molded shaping with short heel and bow tie closure. The sculptor added a piece of wood to each side to shape out for the width of the foot. This sculpture is solid wood and in very good condition. It has great surface patina as well as exhibiting much use, handling, and storage.

Beautiful GARDEN BUNNY in Repose !!
This lovely and beautifully sculpted BUNNY wood carving was hand carved by the hand of an artist. Each photograph depicting her from all sides exudes her personality in portraiture. She is solid wood and was well-used in her productive lifetime. Deep grooves made by multitudes of tiny knife cuts show how the paper mache was removed countless times to make paper bunnies. THIS BUNNY IS LOVELY !! The natural soft brown surface patina was developed during the paper making process. The left ear lost some of its round tip as it succummed to the knife. She is a gem!

A fabulous VERY LARGE sitting FROG with a thoughtful expression!!
This very handsome and unusual fellow is big, strong and sturdy. Carved from one piece of wood the artist gave this guy a dramatic presence. He has big round, lidded eyes; a serious expression; four protruding bumps on his back alongside a spine-like shaping; and firmly planted feet. Incredible mold! In excellent condition with great surface patina. Knife marks for removal of the paper mache are evident on the frog.
