Rare Trout Trophy Fish wood carving by Reginald Edwards (deceased), Mechanics Falls, Maine.
The beautifully patinaed paint highlights a delicate eye for color with relief stippling.

Inuit seal-hide model kayak complete with hide-covered figure, made in Quebec ca late 19th century. This kayak was one of nearly 1000 items sold at auction for over a quarter of a million dollars from The Pierre LaPlante Folk Art Collection.
The kayak has been in the Kangas Collection since 1997.

Indian Whirligig
Handmade INDIAN WHIRLIGIG by Unidentified Maker; found in Ohio. Six carved Indian figures of different sizes, perhaps indicating tribal rank. Two undressed slave figures appear to propel the Indians in a circle. The higher-stationed figures are dressed by with wrapped red and black yarn, and they have some bird feathers as headdresses. The figures carry spear-type weapons. The sculpture is pegged, nailed, and screwed together. Good working condition as propelled by a metal fan. The sculpture has been in the Kangas Collection since 1979.

Flying Mallard Drake Whirligig
Upstate New York carved and painted wood Mallard Whirligig with attached wooden feet, applied wings and tack eyes. Each wing was made with two pieces of wood to make the shaping, painted, then firmly joined to the body in a manner allowing them to turn with the wind. Very old original paint, slightly worn.

Ohio Amish "Barn Raising" Quilt
Amish Quilt "Barn Raising" pattern made ca 1945. Purchased directly from maker Mrs. Fannie Detweiler (1890-1974), Metsopotamia, Ohio, in 1973. She passed away a year later. The cotton quilt is pieced with a myriad of colors and shades optically highlighting the reds juxtaposed with strong blues. The leaf-quilted green border is framed with two shades of blue. The back is pieced homespun. A 1992 letter from Fannie's daughter Elizabeth Detweiler, also a quilter, estimates her mother made about 50 quilts in her lifetime.

Eagle Lectern on original matching carved and varnished oak, architecturally-designed pedestal. Eagle is highly detailed with deeply incised primaries and feathers. Commissioned ca 1850 for Trinity Cathedral ("Old Trinity"), Cleveland, Ohio. Carved in Southern Ohio. The Lectern was the gift of Mrs. S. L. Mather, a member and benefactor of Old Trinity.
