Gene Kangas ArtWork: 1965-1980 Sculpture
The period 1965-1980 is best described as one of experimentation and transition. Techniques and design concepts studied in undergraduate and graduate school emerged in various materials and forms. Materials most utilized were fiberglass, Plexiglas, silvered glass, and various metals including welded steel. Figural works developed often within site specific and/or environmental projects. The post university experiences encouraged great individuality and innovation.
