Gene Kangas ArtWork: Functional Woodturning

GENE'S approach to WOODTURNING began by learning basic techniques on a wood lathe to create traditional forms like functional platters, bowls and boxes. Those were the necessary stepping stones to designing more complex Wood Sculptures. Other early forms Gene experimented with included figural art, food sculpture, cultural artistic drama and environmental concerns. Questions asked included: "What is a box?" "What is a handle?" "What is the function?" Functional Woodturnings can be purchased through CREEKSIDE.
